puppeteer / ventriloquist Nancy Mitchell and her Mitchell
Marionettes troupe will return to the 2010 Cowan County
Regional Fair in Edenton, with their popular Showboat Puppet
Spectacular. Presented from the decks of their own
Mississippi Riverboat puppet stage, the Puppet Spectacular
is a colorful, comic variety show as well as a tour de
force of puppetry featuring ventriloquism, stringed
marionettes and other puppet forms. A second-generation
professional puppeteer,
Mitchell, along with her family troupe, have presented their
marionette performances to millions of fairgoers throughout
the US and Canada over the past four decades. The Showboat
Puppet Spectacular will play three times a day for the run
of the Fair, Tuesday thru
Saturday, Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. The puppet shows will be free
of charge to fair-goers.
“Millie the Monkey”, an animatronic chimpanzee
puppet, will again be on hand to
greet
fair-goers at the 2010 Chowan County Regional Fair in Edenton,
Sept. 28 thru Oct. 2. The free-wheeling electronic primate will
ride her bicycle around the fairgrounds, striking up comic
conversations with the adults, singing along to her own built-in
sound system and organizing games of “Simon Says” with the
children. “Merrie Millie” is part of the Mitchell Marionettes
puppet troupe which will also be presenting their Showboat
Puppet Spectacular three times a day, through the run of the
Fair.
