Work begins on the 2010
edition of the Chowan County Regional Fair
January 22, 2010
Work to produce the
2010 Chowan County Regional Fair is in top gear.
Some decisions have been made and others are still
in the planning stage. Playworld will return as the
midway after signing another three year deal. Lou’s
petting zoo will return as well as R&S Woodworking.
We hope to have Showboat Marionettes back and are
working on a deal to get an exciting new act that
will be the Fair’s main attraction. The Fair Board
Committees are working on some new ideas for
programs and entertainment. Plans are being made to
improve the fairgrounds and facilities. Work is
underway to make the web site more informative and
user friendly. There are many other things still in
the planning stage so keep an eye on the web site
for timely up dates.
Even in these
economic times, the expenses and costs incurred to
produce the Fair as well as the expense of providing
the midway have increased. It is necessary therefore
to have a price increase this year. The new prices
will be $18.00 at the gate and $15.00 in advance. As
always, this price includes: parking (many fairs
charge $5.00), admission to the fair (usually
$6.00), all exhibits; all entertainment (families
spend about $10.00 per person just for a movie), and
unlimited midway rides (these can cost up to $4.00
per ride at most fairs). The good news is that this
price will remain the same for at least three years.
These price changes
will not begin until February 1st, 2010, so now is
the time to purchase your advance tickets on line at
last year’s price. February 1st the price will be
$15.00 each.
