“Growing Better Communities”
May 14, 2010
“Growing Better Communities” is the theme of this year’s
Chowan County Regional Fair. The meaning behind this
theme is that everyone in each community has the
means and opportunity to help make their community a
better place to live. The educational booths will be
judged on how well each organization’s concept
relates to the theme by demonstrating their idea of
what “Growing Better Communities” means to them.
From these exhibits, guests should get an idea of
what the theme is all about. Also a program,
“Neighbors Helping Neighbors” will show everyone
what is available to those of us that want to help
our communities. There will be a collection of food
for the food pantries in the Region. It is requested
that guests bring a non perishable food item to help
their neighbors that are in need. Further details of
this program will follow when all is finalized.
Another feature of the “Neighbors” program is making
the fair guests aware of the various service groups
in the Region that offer community help programs.
There will be posters throughout the fairgrounds
that feature each organization, what they offer, and
how they can be contacted. There will also be a list
of all these organizations at the Guest Services
Booth located in the commercial building. If you are
a member of a service group and would like for your’
organization to participate in the program, please
contact Earl Johns at 252-482-3662 or Sheri Volk at
252-482-5505.
This is what has been planned to support the fair theme to
date. As further plans develop, the information will
be passed along. Please keep an eye on the website
for fair updates.
