Exhibitions
ENTER AND WIN! There's over $12,000 cash available in
prize money for your handiwork. You may enter your
exhibit on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 1 PM to 5
PM and/or Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 1 PM to 6 PM.
Entries must be completed after September 30, 2010.
There's only one entry per person per category to be
eligible for judging. Pre-entering your exhibit will
save time.

In the Youth and Adult Division, the categories are:
Art, Photography, Decorative Art, Crafts, Needlework,
Sewing, Canning, Cakes, Candies, Breads, Pies, Dried
Foods, Decorative Plants and Flowers, Herbs, Field
Crops, Horticulture, Sheep, Poultry, Rabbits, Pigs, and
Cows.
For the Senior Citizens Division (age 65 and up):
Seniors may enter the same categories as the Adult
Division.
In the Youth Contest, the categories are: Little Miss
Pageant, Miss Chowan County Regional Fair Pageant, Essay
Contest, three (3) Decorating Contests, Agriculture
Contest, Coloring Contest, and the Cheer and Dance
Contest.

RULES GOVERNING
ENTRIES EXHIBITS AND AWARDS
GENERAL
-
The management of the Chowan County
Fair reserves the right to rule on all questions not
covered by these rules.
-
Disregard of any rule or
misrepresentation by exhibitor or concessionaire
forfeits all premiums, rights and privileges, without
recourse.
-
The management will use diligence
to ensure the safety of livestock and articles entered
for exhibition or display after their arrival on the
grounds, but under no circumstances will it be
responsible for loss, injury or damage by fire,
lightning, wind or any other agency to such livestock or
article on exhibition or display.

Exhibitors must place all exhibits
under the direction of the Director in charge, and in no
case can they be removed until the close of the Fair.

Drunkenness, quarreling or the use
of profane or obscene language will not be allowed on
the grounds. No laser lights allowed on the fair
grounds.

NO ARTICLE OR ANIMAL WILL BE
ENTITLED TO SPACE UNTIL PROPER ENTRY HAS BEEN MADE.
After an article or animal has been entered for a
premium, it cannot be removed until Sunday, October 2nd
without permission from the manager or the Director in
charge of the department; and if any person removes an
article without such permission, he forfeits all claims
to premiums, even if the same have been awarded. No
person can make more than one entry in the same entry
number.

The Chowan County Fair Association
reserves the right to adjust the Premium List downward
in case the gate receipts are not sufficient to meet the
prizes as stated hereon.

Premiums will be awarded when
exhibits are picked up on Sunday, October 2nd between 11
a.m. to 3 p.m. For all winners not present on Sunday,
October 2, premiums will be mailed. Checks will be void
after 120 days.
ENTRIES
-
Competition in all departments for
prizes is open.
-
Entries will be received on
Saturday, September 24th from 1 - 5 p.m. and 1 - 6 p.m.
Sunday, September 25th.
-
If records are altered and do not
conform with the entries on file, payment of premiums
will be withheld.
-
The right is reserved to reject any
entry offered.
-
Misrepresentation as to breeding,
age and irregularity in showing will be exposed, and any
premiums won by such exhibitors will be withheld.
-
All livestock on exhibition must be
cared for by exhibitor. All stalls and pens will be well
bedded before the Fair, free of charge. Thereafter
exhibitors will be required to furnish their own
bedding.
EXHIBIT ENTRY
-
The same article
cannot compete for more than one (1) premium except
sweepstakes, or when otherwise stated.

SPECIAL NOTICE. All
exhibits must be in place and fully installed by 6 p.m.
Sunday, September 25th, 2011. (Judging starts Mon.,
September 26th at 9 a.m.)

Entries having no
competition will be judged on individual merits.
-
Livestock and poultry
may be taken out by 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1st
before the gates open.
-
All individual
exhibit booths may be removed after 11:00 p.m. Saturday,
October 1st. Any booth remaining after 1:00 p.m. Sunday,
October 2nd, will be removed and the Fair Association
will not be responsible for missing or damaged articles.

All other articles
may be checked out on Sunday, October 2nd, from 11:00
a.m. & 3:00 p.m. The fair will not be responsible for
any exhibit left after 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2nd.
JUDGES
-
Judges are especially
instructed not to award premiums to any animal or
article because of its presence. It must be individually
worthy. It is not the policy of the Chowan County
Regional Fair to encourage indifferent production of any
kind, or to distribute premiums equally among
exhibitors, and no premiums should be awarded to any
animal or article that does not possess high intrinsic
merit, and is not worthy of a premium.

Judges will award
premiums on single exhibits based on individual merit.

All decisions of the
Judges are final. All complaints concerning prizes and
awards must be made in writing to Fair Manager no later
than Thursday, September 29, 2011.

All judges will have
authority to disqualify articles entered under wrong
classes.
