would like to invite everyone to the Mercy Me
Christian Contemporary Concert on June 5th 2009
at 7pm. The show will be held at the American
Legion Fairgrounds in Edenton, NC.
Mercy Me is a
Christian Contemporary band formed in 1994 by
its members while working on a missions project
overseas. It was not long before the band
gained a solid fan base and began opening for
bands such as Audio Adrenaline. After signing
with INO Records in 2001, Mercy Me released
their first album, “Almost There”, they were put
into the mainstream spotlight with their hit “I
Can Only Imagine.” Almost There went on to sell
2 million records in three years and earned the
band an American Music Award Nomination.

In 2002, the band released their
popular second album, “Spoken For”, which
produced two more Top 10 hits. The combined
success of the band's first two albums gained
them a nomination for the Favorite Contemporary
Inspirational Artist at the American Music
Awards. By 2004, Mercy Me released “Undone”,
which produced two Top 10 hits including “Here
With Me" and “In the Blink of an Eye”.
Between 2002 and 2004 Mercy Me
received seven Dove Awards including: Best Song
of the Year, Best Artist of the Year as well as
Songwriter of the Year, and the ASCAP Award in
2003. Bart Millard, vocalist, was quoted by
saying, “I would say that God is much bigger
than all of this. I’ve been through difficult
times where it just seems like hope is nowhere
to be found, but those are some of the greater
moments where we run to Christ a little faster
and hang on a little tighter. Through the
hardest times in life, I hope people turn to him
and realize he’s still a sovereign God; he’s in
control.”
